One Wedding Turned A-Reunion Makes A Weekend Blast!

I had a blast weekend last Sunday – I attended Felix’s wedding reception. I know i will get to meet a lot of my friends from our Class of 91’s (S.M. La Salle, Kota Kinabalu) so i brought my camera with me … No, im not their official photographer, and i keep reminding myself not to overdo when taking a snap of the bride & groom … if you were expecting more artsy-fartsy angled photos from the celebration, then hire me as your wedding photographer ahaaks … anyway, this post is merely my shots of Felix with my friends having lots of fun …

Congratulations to Felix and Omay – may you have a wonderful life together!

One for the album – S.M. La Salle Class of 91, Kota Kinabalu

This is the only wedding party i attended, by far, having the most liquor served – sick!!! But seriuosly, we had fun – thank you Felix & Omay for the most enjoyable party cum reunion – bringing us “back to memory-lane”, after a few drinks everybody start talking like we were 18 again!!! But of course the topic was not Geography and Maths laa – we talked about making babies

To all my ex-La Sallian’s mate, check on my FB for more photos of us having stupid and crazy moments ;) … oooppsss, give me sometime to sort all images yaa ;)

RWMF is Sarawak’s Best Tourism Product – Period!

When i was small, we do not have electricity until my 18yrs and that was about 3 weeks before my SPM exams started. Hmmm, you might ask “how come?” … and to add things up, we only had a small “runs-on-a-4cell-battery” radio and no TV for the 1st 18yrs of my life – can u believe it!!! Long story short, with only a radio as the main source of “entertainment” at home, music has been the best thing happened to me until now…

Ok enough with the history flashback … i (personally) think that Rainforest World Music Festival (RWMF) is undoubtly the best tourism product for Sarawak, the Malaysian Borneo – period! … Hey! Sabah is a Malaysian Borneo too !!! ahaaks :)

Im sure most of us should have known what is RWMF and (maybe) had read my previous post about RWMF … so, i wouldnt be repeating what i’ve said this time on what the h*ll is RWMF – go Google yourself for it.

Last year’s RWMF tagged as the “Muddy RWMF” … while this year’s RWMF tagged as a “Mask-querade RWMF” … blame it on the H1N1 virus. While the pandemic H1N1 slows down the turnout for this year RWMF, the so-called “Mask-querade” festival also has a little to do in a tribute to the sudden pass of the King Of Pop, Michael Jackson, who passed away a couple of weeks before the festival. AkashA, claimed as the best performing band from Malaysian had also played “Beat It” during the festival and makes everybody sing at the top of their lungs (especially me …)

This year is a little different from my previous trips cuz i was extremely excited to know that a Sabahan troupe will also be performing at the RWMF. A little too excited that i was hoping that it would not rain at the first day which it was last year – and to my dissapointment, it rains on Friday … again!!! … and adding to my disppointment on Friday – i have to make 2 trips to the Rainforest – dammed!!! i “fu*k-cidentally” left my tickets at my hotel – so instead of paying another RM200.00 for new tickets, we made the trip back to the hotel

Ok … a little warning before you proceed … this is gonna suck all your bandwidth power – im gonna post almost 50 pictures here  … you have been warned … so here goes ….

Kinabalu Merdu Sound – Sabah

St Nicholas Orchestra – Poland

Poum Tchack – France

Asika – West Malaysia

Lan-E Tuyang – Sarawak

Oudaden – Morocco

Moana and the Tribe – New Zealand

Dazkarieh – Portugal

Listening to Dazkareih gave me the feeling like i was in a Woodstock concert :D … Sarawak’s own Woodstock concert … Saturday usually is the most jammed packed day on every RWMF … it wasn’t raining on Saturday and the crowd turnout was huge! … Though it was far less than it was in the previous year but the crowd was sure a big ones still and happening too … despite having to put on our mask (recommended by the organizer), we still rocking on every performances … watch the crowd …

In a bid to have a smooth event going and to minimise chances that someone might fall sick (to H1N1), the organizer keeps on reminding everyone to put their mask on, using their hand sanitizer and to stay safe throughout the three days event … and even asked its official photographer to take a snap on the crowd with their mask on …

For those who doesn’t like to be in a crowd, there are also big screens erected on almost every corners of the Sarawak Cultural Village … so, you can still enjoy the music while sitting and drink your Heineken … :)

There was a bloggers meet on Saturday and i was planning to join them but again i was late and only managed to see the “Soul of the Maori” workshop … but yeah, i saw some familiar faces :) … On the 3rd day i came just on time for the “High Strung” workshop – great!

After all the workshop done, and while waiting for the main show, there are many other activities happening around the SCV … this is the right time to shop for some souvenirs too :) … or you may want to an early “dinner”

On the final day (Sunday) … I’m so excited to see and listen to AkashA again :)

AkashA – Malaysia

Red Chamber – Canada/China … featuring AkashA

Inti Illimani – Chile

Zawose Family – Tanzania

A little on the Zawose Family troupe from Tanzania – it was mentioned that it tooke them 3 days to go to the airport (in Tanzania) and fly to Sarawak for us… I was like “WOWW” … all their instruments are made of recycle stuffs like zinc, scrap metals, animal bones and etc … and they are super talented. The Zawose Family was the last performance before the finale …

So … that’s all from me … i hope you manage to view all photos :) … Yaa i know, i didnt get all the bands, i just snap those i like  … neway, Sarawak next RWMF is set on 9 – 11 july 2010. Till then … (start saving some $$ now ahaaks …)
